Didactic illustration for clinicians
To make surgical education accessible and scalable, step-wise illustration has been invaluable over millennia. Easily digestible visuals, engaging storytelling and minimal extraneous cognitive load are essential features.
Thanks to Dr. Anthony de Buck van Overstraeten (colorectal surgeon, Mount Sinai Hospital), Michael Corrin (director, MScBMC, U of T), and the consent of a patient, I was able to observe a small bowel resection procedure alongside a peer and illustrate its techniques for the sake of surgical education and dissemination.

Selectively compose information for didactic storytelling.
Apply graphic design principles like size, proximity, balance.
